Trail of Dreams
A downloadable game for Windows
Trail of Dreams is an ARPG developed for the Bucko Jam 2024.
This is a fully featured ARPG (think Diablo/Grim Dawn/Path of Exile) complete with itemization systems, skill trees, etc, but with tighter WASD movement and a unique three character switching system. Currently it has roughly 4-5 hours of content across two acts, and there's plenty of replayability if you like trying different builds and such.
The downsides:
The game only has two acts out of the planned three, the skill trees are unfinished, it has no sound, and it has no resolution scaling and runs in a 1280x960 4:3 window. If you're running an 8K monitor or something you could possibly use software such as Magnifixer to upscale it for now. Sorry, I really didn't have time to implement it.
While extensive effort was taken to balance the game, there are almost certainly possible builds that are underpowered/overpowered.
The jam version of this game is available by downloading the old 0.9 version below, the updated version was made after the two month time period.
I really poured my heart, soul, and an embarrassing amount of time into this over the last two months. I hope people like it. Please avoid spoiling Ami on the game before she plays it, thank you.

I love this! You did such an great job and put in so much effort! Well done!
glad you like it, thanks!
I'm still playing this. Having lots of fun trying different builds. Hope it continues.
i'm glad you like it! i'm working on it, progress will be slower now (i really grinded hard in the two month window) but i absolutely intend on at least finishing act 3 and adding some new features that i think people will like
I haven't even scratched the surface of the incredible amount of work you put into this game! The addition of all the different ami-related characters was so fun and the skill system seems so well balanced! I also love that there is lots of different items to find and replayability if you pick a different build. I can't wait to play more!
thanks i'm really glad you like it, i really worked hard to get as much as i could done in two months. development will slow down a bit now but i definitely look forward to finishing the game
Woah! Your game has so much in it and looks amazing! All the skills and everything across the characters must have taken a lot of time and energy to decide on. I'm definitely going to play some more of it when I have time!
yeah coming up with ideas for the skills (and legendary items too) got pretty tricky as time went on as i wanted everything to feel exciting and not have too many boring things like "+5 whatever stat." glad you like it!
Cleared it, looking forward to the full thing. The character switching mechanic was really cool, and I liked how the support attacker builds played to encourage the constant change in flow. Wild how you did all this in 2 months, especially on your own. Your effort and love put in this really shows. Good stuff.
thanks! i put a lot of thought into making the various possible builds synergize, by the end i really ran creatively dry on skill ideas lol, hopefully after a little break i can come up with more for the full release.
as far as doing it all on my own, it should be noted many of the assets are modified CC0 or asset bundles i bought previously. i did also use three libraries (TiledCS, Comora, Newtonsoft JSON.) not to diminish the work i put in lmao just saying there were shortcuts taken to get so much done. i'm really glad you liked it!
I'll have to play more later but this is insanely impressive, I can't believe you managed all this in two months, great job!
thanks, i talked a bit on the discord about how i fit so much in but the biggest thing is it was just a labour of love putting insane time in. really glad you like it
